Already the move has generated a lot of buzz about the changes—some good, some bad. This mode, few months away now, allows the player to build his own college football legacy, which press buys have gone live onto. However, in a rather loud chorus of disapproving comments which ramped from mildly lava to apathetic regarding the tagline “Your Destiny. Your Dynasty,” one wonders how deep the love really goes.
The good ones go: EA has definitely listened and made changes, one of which was to create a very slow and realistic way for player development traits to come into effect. One player, @m_greig27, thanked the devs whilst also acknowledging some areas of concern, “Can tell you listened to a lot of the feedback.” The Team Builder is being revamped as well for the mad customizers out there, although the whining is still present concerning last year’s Team Builder: “My hope is that I can use my Team in a normal dynasty that I can play co-op with my buddies,” tweeted @Gamechin, born from the bitterness of it being single-player only.
Now, the nay-sayers: Some found the deep dive “underwhelming,” while @JDissetteIII simply stated, “Almost nothing about this got me hype.” Then you have @theDILFhunter21 throwing shade at that variety: “Only 3 generic stadiums is terrible.” And then there are those already jumping ship @unholyapp: “Looks like I’m getting Madden instead cause this shit was hella underwhelming.”
The drama did not end there. Some gamers have opposing views on player progress. @jonny_k34 threw in a theory on how progressive traits might have gone too gradual, tweeting: “I don’t like that because guys do take major leaps from year to year all the time.” In contrast, @YorkieFights had a very specific request: “I need a sophomore QB that has never played a snap to not leave for the draft.” Pretty relatable.
And then, there were the ensuing MVP Bundle woes. @Christoff89 unleashed a tirade on EA pushing microtransactions: “Notice at the end they push the MVP BUNDLE with all the bullshit microtransaction extra bullshit.” Classic EA move, right?
Despite the gripes, some features are getting showered in praise. The return of in-game record screens had @y0shiakA hyped: “It’s silly when I throw for 800 yards in a game and the announcers pretend like nothing special is happening.” And @thefutxre praised the updates as “a huge improvement over last year.”
What does that amount to? In other words, without a doubt, College Football 26’s Dynasty Mode could end up being quite controversial. EA is trying to make this realistic yet fun but more or less we are going to find out on the 10th of July. Until then, debates and memes will keep going. The pre-orders are live; maybe wait for gameplay. At least, if you are fitting to buy the MVP Bundle.
