On its new wallpaper, the system gave a serious summer vibe – The community is loving it! The official DayZ Twitter posted an image of a sunny beach, captioned, “The season of well-deserved vacations is here!” along with links for wallpapers for several device types.
While devs work on that tropical aesthetic, the players are down in the replies debating everything from server wipes to cheating. Classic DayZ moment – half of the community is vibing, while the other half is fighting for survival (literally).
The wallpaper shows a warm, calm beach that is so unlike Zernarus: no zombies, no gunfights, just chilling. The players, like @StateOfSu4vival, immediately got the feel and appreciated it. “Very nice picture, and oh yea summers here!” In contrast, @botnumber666 sarcastically dismissed, “Wallpaper. Wow. Content.” because DayZ players will never ever just be happy for anything.
Server wipes are where the real drama in the replies begin. Several players, including @JimmyCarte12905 and @Moto_Comedy, have repeatedly placed requests for actual wipe times, with a French player, @Indestructor120, asking, “Le wipe est a quel heure?” (“What time is the wipe?”). Then there was the possibly most-likely-to-ever-appear-in-DayZ-advice comment: “@SgtJoeTrojan: If bad things have been happening, wipe.” Deep.
Elsewhere, some players took the opportunity to vent about the in-game issues. “You need to fix duping. Remove server hopping. It’s simple. It’s ruining your game,” @SLAWDOGTRILLION demanded; meanwhile, @Merxly begged developers, “please add doors windows codelocks at least something for various construction please!”
But it was not all complaints. Adorable moments arose: @banditIN217 said, “When me and my dad first started playing DayZ he ran a cool little resort outside of Cherno this is givin me those vibes.” Whereas @Mononokeva_TV rejoiced after six months of absence.
The creepiest comment came from @LJ_2112, who posted a cryptic calendar image asking “WHAT’S THE EVENT?!” about a possible July fishing event. This sparked a mini-thread of speculation, with @LewisL442006 hoping for a Walking Dead crossover (don’t hold your breath).
Meanwhile, @LordJher was out here living his best DayZ life by coordinating with @sincaraz_ for an epic squad battle on server 4076 North America NY whereby they retain a right to turn on each other if they don’t find any enemies. Classic DayZ!
The wallpaper drop comes at an interesting time for DayZ – there has been a weird resurgence of players recently, many discussing the state of cheating right now, with @Hasann995 apparently somewhat less so according to some console players.
If you’re here for the summer vibes or the outright survival chaos, one thing is certain: DayZ remains the game where every single update, big or small, tears the entire community apart. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go download that wallpaper before a brutal in-game death. Priorities.
