The second Nintendo Switch is the destination for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and whatever noise the collective applause makes is, indeed, quite varied. CD Projekt Red announced that you could take Night City on the road. The announcement, while building excitement, cast a slight shadow on the idea of a large open-world game active on a handheld.

The announcement was a pretty classy one: no fluff, a link to download the game, and a slick promo pic. But then came a treasure trove of amusing replies. Players like @TDeckverse are just thrilled that they will finally be able to meet Hanako (better late than never, right?). Then people like @hey_dutch come back:

“😂😂 what? You serious?”

And you could hardly argue with that.

Then the debates erupt: Should Cyberpunk 2077 even be on a handheld? @amibotherd declared it “just funny,” whereas @Axiom_exe said, “It’s only for travel, I would play it on Switch 2.” Meanwhile, shade was thrown by @DialX4Murder, who said, “streaming the game on a tablet with maxed-out PC settings almost looks way better than whatever the Switch 2 is going to pull off”—sounds rather harsh, though.

Regardless of how it is said to perform on Switch 2, other replies just want more DLCs: @FT_Cany and @RealFehold for “please another dlc” and “New DLC when?”—because Phantom Liberty clearly wasn’t enough. @lnfinite_loop is still waiting for a Mac Silicon port. (Sorry, pal; yet no update.)

The gamer’s are already unpacking ready to enjoy the launch; thus, @MOTOVRES news will be out in probably five hours, while @Luzailushang posted a hyped GIF. The bigger question: how well does it play? @HoodedH1 straight-up asked for real gameplay videos, seeing being believing in the case of Cyberpunk on a handheld.

Then, there are side comments, sometimes random but hilarious—@TeaBow_Twitch and @mehdi07680662 argued in French about whether or not to remove the screen protector on the Switch 2 (scratch that; you’re not supposed to). Meanwhile, @dxxzell throws in: “Now Witcher 3,” as if CDPR will magically port their whole library overnight.

So where do we stand? Some gamers are charging full force with anticipation; others are cautious, and a few are here solely for meme bait. One thing’s for sure: just like we like it or not, Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 is building up to go. Excuse us while we test if the neon of Night City will melt the hardware of the Switch 2. Fingers crossed.
