Epic Games published information about the Death Star Sabotage event in Fortnite, and players are now logging in to grab their free rewards before the big showdown on Saturday. The official event begins at 2:00 p.m. EST; however, anyone logging in between now and June 10 at 9 a.m. EST will get rewarded for showing up early with the Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe and Assault on the Death Star Loading Screen.

And make no mistake about it: free goodies in Fortnite does get excitement going for the community. The tweet from Fortnite’s official page sent the replies into chaos from almost hype mode. Players are begging for the schedule to be changed (“@Fortnite Pls move the event to next weekend 🙏🏻”), while other players are just venting about other problems the game has (“Fix your fucking game and get rid of social nanny said stupid and you ban me for 7 days I’m leaving”). Classic Fortnite Twitter.

Away from the usual distractions, there is real excitement bubbling up. A user (@mssickk) confirmed, “Cant wait for the event,” while another (@DarthKryptons) called this a win for the season, “Loved this season. 🔥” On the flip side, there are those who are not excited at all—dripping with bitterness about the drops (“i did not get that loading screen 💀💀💀💀”) and wanting other collaborations (“STREET FIGHTER PLEASE EPIC“).

Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe goes hard, but if we’re being honest, some had dreams for something a little bit more flashy. “@Fortnite a stick. . . WE WANT A LIGHTSABER,” joked one player (@huntr571730). And honestly, a lightsaber pickaxe would be the shiz, especially for a Star Wars-themed event. Maybe next time Epic.

Back to the regulars wanting skins back in the shop (“bring darth maul back”), begging for fixes (“10 updates and servers for each region have been not fixed wtf..”), and some are just here to throw down in the replies (shoutout to the dude telling a fellow Twitter user to shove something where the Sun don’t shine—stay classy, Twitter).

The actual deets for the Death Star Sabotage event have yet to come about, but if we are to go on Fortnite’s track record, tons of fun is almost guaranteed. Explosions? Giant freaking space battles? Secret cross-over character? Who really knows? What is definite is that if you miss it, you will be relegated to watching clips in agonizing regret.
