Whenever Burza made his praises through a tweet, fans of Witcher players, especially Ciri fans, grew a bit hyped. He really admired the tech demo for several moments and gave special treatment to Ciri’s character, specifically the chat between Frewin and her, so much so that the hype became contagious.
But what really is this tech demo? The tech demo is essentially a concept trailer for whatever CDPR must be working on: the next Witcher game (or a spin-off, as one might argue). If Ciri’s attitude in the clip is anything to go by, then players are going to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Burza, who works at CDPR, elaborated that his excitement comes not just from his being a dev but from once being a passionate fan; that energy warms the heart.
Such opposite reactions, expectedly so. Some gamers are swooning already for veteran witcheress vibes from Ciri. A certain player going by the name Khal-Billa actually hit Burza with the request to pass his compliments to the dev team for nailing both her look and attitude. Others are simply not impressed, though. Digvijay dubbed “shameless deceptive tactics” all tech demos: “Most recently, that last one follow-up on which never delivered a real game, I suppose” (cough Cyberpunk cough).
Then comes the picking of nits. Artur said Ciri’s scar in the tech demo does not really match the one in the books. Classic fandom move-legit ways to argue. But the rest of those comments? Pure hype. Players are already just joking around about spending “a comical amount of time” capturing in-game selfies with Ciri and her horse, Kelpie. Now, let’s not forget the almost iconic fate from Danny Bardecio: “Yeah, all cool and all but, what about Gwent?” Priorities, folks.
One thing is for sure: Ciri’s charm is stealing the spotlight. Sarcastic smirks with confident swagger? Skrill says she kind of reminds him of Astrid (from How to Train Your Dragon). And honestly? We’re totally down for that vibe. Even voice acting earns brownie points as Rapidlygreying commented that the merchant voice sounded pretty damn familiar.
But here is the thing, though-will the big time game live up to the demo? CDPR‘s track record has players wary but that Burza is this enthusiastic for it is hard to ignore. Whether you are skeptical or all-in, one thing is for sure-The Witcher universe still has some surprises for us. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re gonna go and watch that demo clip over and over till the news drops.
