With the release on the Switch 2, Cyberpunk 2077 is again making waves. The official tweet from the CyberpunkGame account stirred all fans for the launch and cheekily acknowledged all Vs (that is, the player) diving into Night City on the new platform. Reactions poured in from excitement to upset and just enjoying the turmoil, stirred with emojis and full Cyberpunk attitude.
The tweet said very little–it was almost like a call for players to go into Night City and leave their mark. But oh, the replies! People went from utter ecstasy about the launch to very full-on Console wars. One of the players, Marc, even went so far as to call the game an insult for not running at 60 fps on Switch 2. To which some replied, “Go make your own game then. 🤡” Classic gamer smack talk.
The others were just vibing with the vibe. A colorful character, Justfilthy, stated they were halfway through a Judy Romances playthrough (complete with screenshot, obviously), which sparked a whole secondary conversation about romances. Someone was even complaining to CD Projekt Red about letting them romance Goro Takemura. Followed later by much messier banters about self-pleasuring if one could romance Johnny Silverhand. Never a dull moment in Night City.
Most of the players seem very excited despite the complaints. Reizan3, after finishing the game on Xbox Series X, was considering possibly double dipping on Switch 2 for another story path; meanwhile, LinkLinkante was teasingly impatient for the arrival of their physical copy. Meanwhile, all the rumors and speculations about that “update” are circulating-whether it is just delayed or everyone’s praying for FSR4 support. Classic Cyberpunk community: everybody theorizes, and no one has any patience.
That really brings me back to what was probably the weirdest bit in the whole thread: someone seriously commenting, “Legend status in web3 is built different 😉” in response to the tweet. What even does that mean? No idea. But it is Cyberpunk, so maybe that’s just part of the vibe.
Ultimately, Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 is keeping people busy talking about gameplay, memes, or just watching the drama unfold. Honestly? And this is what Night City stands for – chaos, want, and lots of people yelling into the void concerning frame rates.
So, to all the suckers jumping in, good luck, choom. Just don’t expect Goro romance and 60 fps-any time soon.
