After delaying the game several times, developer CD Projekt Red is getting Cyberpunk 2077 ready for its December 10 release date. But, prior to its scheduled release date, physical retail copies of the first-person open-world RPG are out there, which means that leaks are inevitable.

An image of a physical copy of Cyberpunk 2077 was posted on the game’s Reddit page, and it was immediately followed by a 20-minute long gameplay video that showed it running on the PlayStation 4. As you’d expect, the footage was promptly taken down.

The leaked footage showed the game’s main menu, and the user started a new game with the Nomad life path. It then showed the game’s opening scene, and then it showed a bit of gameplay in both first and third-person. Given that this is a pre-release copy, the footage didn’t look as polished as it will be after the game’s day-one patch.

Following Cyberpunk 2077’s most recent delay, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski suggested that its release date was pushed back because there are issues with the current-gen versions of the game.

“The game for PC is ready and plays well on next-gen consoles and the company is finalizing the process concerning current gen consoles.”

As of right now, it seems like Cyberpunk 2077 is on track to be released on December 10, although some rumors have suggested that the game will be pushed back until early next year. In response to the rumor, CD Projekt Red issued the following statement to IGN.

“As a rule, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a CD Proekt Red representative told IGN “But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date of December 10th.”

If Cyberpunk 2077 does, in fact, launch on December 10, it’ll do so without a multiplayer mode, which reportedly won’t be added until 2022. When it launches, it could resemble Grand Theft Auto 5’s multiplayer model. Of course, given that the base game hasn’t been released yet, it’s extremely likely that the multiplayer expansion is in the early stages of its development.

While the game is going to be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next month, CD Projekt Red is planning on releasing the game on next-gen consoles sometime next year. Also, if you buy a current-gen copy of the game, you’ll be able to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost.
