CD Projekt Red recently released a mini tease that has made the Cyberpunk 2077 fandom drool just a little bit. A tweet on the official site went like, “How long has it been since you last visited Night City, choom? Too long, right? Let’s visit again soon – it looks as pretty as ever!” And oh boy, did they back it up with some crispy new screenshots labeled #NintendoSwitch2.
Now, before you scream, word is, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t get a release announcement for Nintendo’s next-gen console. Come on. Screenshots attached to that hashtag? Pure coincidence? That right there is CDPR dangling the neon carrot in front of us like we are some cyber-enhanced bunnies.
The screenshots? Gorgeous. Night City looks like the synthwave scene’s album cover, and those textures are much too smooth for the Switch port-which, hence, makes those Switch 2 rumors hold some water. The original Switch could barely run The Witcher 3 without turning into a toaster, so an enhanced version of Cyberpunk? Yeah, that makes sense.
But the thing is: where are the replies? It’s strange not to see a ton of comments under the tweet for a franchise that has such a loud cry. Maybe they’re all busy picking up their jaws? Or maybe they are just in denial, still traumatized from the last time CDPR had promised them something (we do not talk about Launch Day).
The question is-who is it for, a soft-announcement? a technical flex? or just cruel? CDPR’s been radio-silent besides that tweet-and that’s either some masterful buildup, or they’ve realized they jumped the gun. Either way, Night City might go portable, and let’s just say RIP to our social lives. Again.
