Developer CD Projekt Red recently held an emergency board call to discuss the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 where they also discussed what might happen with the game’s multiplayer and post-launch DLC expansions.

Adam Kiciński, who is the president of CD Projekt Red, said as of right now it’s too early to tell what might happen with Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer and DLC expansions while adding that they’ll discuss the projects early next year. Of course, CDPR originally planned to reveal the game’s DLC plans prior to launch, but they ultimately opted to hold off on revealing any details.

“It’s too early to judge,” said CD Projekt Red’s president while discussing Cyberpunk 2077’s post-launch plans. “It’s ahead of us, so we don’t know yet. We are now focused on improving Cyberpunk and will discuss it early next year.

“About multiplayer, first and foremost we haven’t declared any date yet, and as I said before it’s hard to judge now. We’re in a situation which wasn’t been planned, and we’ll have to reassess where we are, and that’s the plan for January. So now we are managing the situation of the single-player, we are working on patches and communication, and to refocus on gamers. We have to sit and discuss.”

When Cyberpunk 2077 launched, it did so without a new game plus mode, but last year, CD Projekt Red told a Polish magazine called PSX Extreme that the mode is being worked on. So, it remains to be seen if the developers will address the possible addition of a new game plus mode when they discuss the game’s upcoming DLC next year.

CDPR’s last major AAA release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, launched without a new game plus mode, but one was added later, along with a ton of other expansions, most notably two story expansions. Prior to launch, the Polish-based developers said that Cyberpunk 2077 will have “no less DLC” than The Witcher 3 did, so it’s probably pretty safe to assume that a new game plus will be added at some point.

Regarding multiplayer, the developers said recently that it’s not going to be an add-on to the base game, but rather, it’ll be its own separate AAA project. Also, there’s been speculation that their multiplayer mode will resemble Grand Theft Auto V’s model, which has been tremendously lucrative for developer Rockstar Games.
