Cyberpunk 2077’s PS4 and Xbox One versions will no longer receive updates, according to CD Projekt Red, who also confirmed that upcoming developments the recently unveiled Phantom Liberty—will only be made available on PC, PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X|S.
They’ll concentrate their efforts and funds on the updated versions of Cyberpunk 2077 after Patch 1.6, the Edgerunners Update, but they’re still dedicated to and will keep providing tech assistance for old-gen versions of the game, per the press statement.
In actuality, this means that following Patch 1.6, your game will remain available on consoles from previous generations, and we will continue to offer players technical support just like we do with all of our other games, according to the press statement.
However, future content upgrades and upgrades, such as the planned expansion, won’t be accessible on consoles from the prior generation.
Even though it was a tricky choice, CD Projekt Red emphasized that they made it because they believed the expansion’s scope would make its release on previous-generation systems technically impossible without degrading the user experience.
Since the game’s first release in December 2020, controversies have surrounded it because of the numerous bugs, performance problems, and other flaws that made the game nearly unplayable for some players with consoles from the previous generation.
Since that time, CD Projekt Red has indeed managed to address these problems by launching updates and bugfixes to correct the game’s problems and redesigning in-game systems and gameplay dynamics in an effort to realize the goals and the version of the game they had set out to create.
They now appear to have achieved their goal and are prepared to forward to expanding the game on platforms that can manage it.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 are at a terrific place, and CD Projekt believes that this is the ideal moment to start looking forward.
