It has been announced that in 2023, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X versions of Fallout 4 will receive a next-gen upgrade that will increase performance and add new features. Additionally, in honor of the franchise’s quarter-century anniversary, Bethesda has released new artwork depicting fan-favorite characters, updated the online multiplayer spin-off game Fallout 76, and more.
In 2015, Fallout 4 was published as the latest main installment in the Fallout series and received universal acclaim from critics. Indeed, Fallout 4 isn’t as well-remembered as its predecessors, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but that hasn’t stopped a lot of players from enjoying the game’s open environment, finishing the game’s downloadable content, and discovering every secret in the game. However, it won’t be until 2023 when Fallout 4 players experience the game in a brand new light.
As yet unknown timing in 2019, you can download Fallout 4’s next-gen update. With the new update, gamers can toggle between a higher frame rate and a better resolution. Fans may also expect the addition of Creation Club content, similar to last year’s Skyrim Anniversary Edition, and bug fixes from Bethesda (though particular bugs weren’t identified). At the time of writing, specifics on the Creation Club content coming to Fallout 4 with the next-gen update are not yet available. To top it all off, the next-gen update for Fallout 4 won’t cost anything extra for current players to grab.
Some speculate that future years will bring even more content for Fallout lovers to enjoy. A Fallout: Microsoft has supposedly requested a New Vegas sequel if reports are to be believed; however, at this time, no official confirmation has been made. While they wait for news of new Fallout projects, fans may go back and relive the series’ storied past, explore the recently expanded world of Fallout 76, and look forward to playing the upcoming Fallout 4 next-gen update.
