The newest The Sims 4 Stuff Pack Nifty Knitting launches today for both PC/Mac and consoles. In November 2019, The Sims team announced a new community voting session for a Stuff Pack. The last community voted Stuff Pack was Laundry Day, which allowed Sims to do their laundry and feel positive Moodlets when wearing fresh clothes.
After a series of voting, fans voted on the theme of knitting for the next Stuff Pack. “Nifty Knitting,” a title that players decided on, is now available for players to jump into. The other possible Stuff Pack themes ranged from the supernatural and arts and crafts.
The Sims 4 has often been criticized as having more activities for Young Adult and Adult Sims, leaving Elders little else to do but wait for the next generation to begin. Knitting is a new hobby that Sims, who are aged “Children” and up can enjoy.
The voting has lasted for the past several months. Players decided on everything from the art style, new furniture, clothing, hairstyles, and more. The Sims team also added in some additional gameplay features, such as selling on Plopsy, an Etsy-like DIY marketplace, and some additional interactions.
One of the new furniture items voted for by the community were rocking chairs. Sims can sit in these chairs and knit. Elders will have the “Reminiscence” interaction added, where they can sit back and remember their youth. Children can also play on the chair.
A new music station for “Metal” music. Listening to this new station will help Sims feel more “Energized” to finish their knitting projects.
Sims who can knit will open up new clothing options. After unlocking one item, Sims will have to knit the additional color options to access the full item. If a Sim has too many knitted items, they can give it to friends to boost friendships. If a Sim is more of a loner type, they can sell DIY projects on Plopsy. Items sold on the Plopsy platform gain a higher profit. Sims can also purchase items from Plopsy, and the inventory rotates throughout the day.
The Sims 4 naming structure for their DLC packs can be confusing for newer players. All DLC requires the base game to play. Expansion Packs add a new neighborhood, new gameplay, and additional Create-a-Sim content and items. Game Packs also add in a significant amount of new content and new animations. Stuff Packs focus more on adding new clothing and objects.
The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack launches today at 7PM CET for PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
