When you think of games that put skateboarding on the map, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is at the top of the list. Before this series, skateboarding was on the cusp of exploding. You would still have global competitions, but this skateboarding series put the industry on the map in a lot of ways.

It has been quite a while since we’ve received a new installment in this highly successful and popular series. The latest one was Tony Hawk’s Skate Jam, a mobile game that came out in 2018. Aside from that, the franchise has been absent.

That has allowed other games to dominate the space, such as Skate, Session, and Skater XL. These games are focused more on skateboarding simulation, featuring realistic tricks and graphics. Still, there are many anxiously waiting for the return of the classic series that started it all.

Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait too long. It was recently announced that both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are being remastered by Activision and Vicarious Visions. Finally, fans of the legendary birdman have something to get excited about.

It’s important to note that this won’t just be a graphical upgrade. The developers are actually adding new systems and features, which have a lot of skateboarding fans in the gaming community excited about what’s to come.

The remastered versions will be better in every way, but there also will be some of the same elements found in the original copies. For instance, players will be able to play as classic skaters, including Tony Hawk, Kareem Campbell, and Geoff Rowley, and Bob Burnquist. These legends were pioneers for the skate industry so it’s only right that they would make an appearance.

That’s not all. These remastered versions are bringing back classic stages, such as the iconic Warehouse and Downhill Jam. Even some of the original tracks will be showing up, which just goes to show how much effort is being put into these games.

Already, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered are showing a ton of potential. The announcement trailer shows high-quality visuals and some of the gameplay was even teased. Everything looks so much better.

Both titles will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It seems like the Nintendo Switch was left off the list, which is a strange choice. Hopefully, the developer provides some clarification for gamers looking to take these upgraded titles on the go.
