Red Dead Redemption 2 is a true masterpiece of a video game. From the world size to the bevvy of missions, this game has it all. That’s why it’s unfortunate that PC gamers haven’t been able to get their hands on the game. Back in 2018, it just released for consoles. It seemed like PC users would just have to live vicariously through console gamers.
That doesn’t appear to be the case anymore, however. Rockstar just went on record confirming a PC release, which will be available on many platforms including the Epic Games Store, Humble Store, Green Man Gaming, and Steam. The PC version will be available starting November 5, but Steam won’t be getting it until sometime in December.
If you’ve wanted to scratch your RDR2 itch on a PC, this is huge news. There are so many singing praises of this awesome Rockstar title and for good reason. The open-ended world your character gets to explore is a thing of beauty. The meticulous details are dialed in, so much so that this game can be considered a work of art from a visual standpoint.
The very nature of exploring these beautiful environments is an incredible experience. It’s surreal to ride on horseback going from snowy mountain tops to dirty swamps. The transitions are seamless, which just adds to the immersion factor. The graphics could be even better when played on a PC, which is insane to even contemplate.
Just as great as the environments and visuals is the main storyline. Set in 1899, you become Arthur Morgan — an outlaw part of the Van der Linde gang. You might remember it from references made in the original, where John Marston took center stage in the story. Morgan is equally poised to handle his role like Marston was, and there are a lot of similarities that you’ll appreciate from the very beginning.
As Morgan, you’ll transition out of a declining Wild West into something more civilized and innovative. Facing these changes, you’ll come across all sorts of interesting characters. They’re not just throw-away NPCs, either. Their stories and dialogue trees have been worked out perfectly, which makes you grow fond of them pretty quick.
The main story provides over 60 hours of content, and there are a ton of side missions to explore as well. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must-own game on the PC. It’s great that Rockstar finally came to their senses and are bringing this beloved game to a larger audience.
