Halloween is such a special time for video gamers. There are so many great titles to bust out to get in the mood for all of the scares during October. Out of the many horror games, Resident Evil 2 (Remake) has to be one of the best. Developed by Capcom, this survival-horror game is so much fun to play with the lights turned off. As you move through a zombie-filled police station, you’ll make choices that are literally life and death.

If you haven’t had the chance to play this recent installment in the Resident Evil franchise, now’s the perfect time before Halloween. Not only is it a thrilling, addicting experience from start to finish, but Best Buy is currently have a sale on it. For a limited time, you can get this highly popular survival-horror title for just $24.99. That’s a much better deal than paying $39.99, which is what most video game outlets are offering right now.

For this low price, you’ll be able to get wrapped up in a compelling story with some likable heroes. Like a lot of the other Resident Evil games, you’ll take on the role of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Claire is looking for her brother after the T virus has spread throughout Raccoon City. Claire fortuitously runs into Leon and their adventure or survival — rather — starts.

Capcom did a phenomenal job with the graphics. They look absolutely breathtaking, especially when playing this game on a PC or advanced console. The lighting in the different areas shows just how much detail went into making this game. If the visuals don’t win you over, the zombie action will.

The zombies have never been better than they are in this Resident Evil game. Part of this has to do with their added difficulty. You won’t be able to just blast through zombies like they’re nothing. Every shot counts and you’ll often find yourself struggling to conserve ammunition. That’s part of the fun, though. Every shot matters and you’ll have to use your guns sparingly if you hope to survive the night.

What’s also great about this installment — especially considering Halloween is just around the corner — is it has an unstoppable boss character referred to as Mr. X. He shows up randomly throughout the game, keeping you on edge the entire time. You never really know when this lumbering figure will bust down a wall and try to take you out for good. The suspension is palpable at times.

If you’re looking for some chills and thrills to end October in epic fashion, Resident Evil 2 (Remake) is the game to play.
