Mistover is the newest game from the Krafton Game Union. The gameplay has a unique dark art style that has gained a lot of attention over the last few months as teasers f the game have been slowly released. The game focuses on strategy and choice-driven dungeon dives.
Every decision changes the future of the game, and it is up to your ‘Corps’ to explore the regions inside the Pilar of Despair. You will have to navigate through forests, lakes, mountains, cities, cathedrals, castles, and many other locations. This is a different kind of game then normally developed by Krafton, but many expect the same level of depth from it.
You create your own Expedition Corp to explore the mysterious mist that has developed across the land. This substance covers everything in the Vortex and has unleashed all kinds of horrible monsters across the land. All attacks have subsided for the time being, and this is where you come in. You have an opportunity to research and prepare for what is to come as you send your Corp into the Misfortune Mist.
The entire game revolves around the Mist and how it affects the major aspects of the game. This Mist allows the developers to introduce unique mechanics. There are many elements that are familiar to fans of turn-based RPGs, including fog of war and unit classes, but the Mist gives the game its procedurally generated dungeons as it changes the very fabric of reality.
Increased exposure to the Mist has an impact on your party as it can be grand your members a brand-new ability some of the time. It can also make teammates exasperated, which affects passive skills and dialogue options. If you throw aside your survival instincts and sense of empathy, you might find more treasures, but you risk the permanent death of your characters.
The developers describe it as a constant balancing act in which you must weigh the risks and rewards for every trip into the Misfortune Mist. The game features a turn-based combat system, and if you plan your attacks well, you can perform powerful, coordinated attacks.
As the game continues, you will eventually learn that your party members are much more than nameless, generic character classes. Although they fill the party structures, the party also has backstories, personalities, and unique dialogue that corresponds with each one’s playstyle.
The game is set to release on PlayStation 4 and PC. You will be able to purchase it on October 10 for $29.99 and get a chance to answer the call and venture forth into the Mist.
