If you’ve had the pleasure of playing Microsoft Flight Simulator from Asobo Studio, you know how realistic its gameplay and details are. Whether you’re taking off a runway or flying over the coastal region during a heavy storm, flying has never felt this good or realistic.

The developer clearly knew what direction they wanted to take this installment. So far, everyone seems to agree that this is the best flight simulation experience to date. And it looks like it will only get better with the addition of VR.

In the not too distant future, pilots can strap on a VR headset and jump in the cockpit for unrivaled flying immersion. It seems like a dream to have VR support in Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you thought the details were already realistic, then just wait until this feature is rolled out.

Before then, though, Asobo Studio needs to test out the VR systems they’ve finished thus far. If you’re hoping to be one of the first players to see the developer’s progression in the realm of virtual reality, then you’re in luck. Signups are currently available now for the closed beta.

It’s important to note that not everyone will be able to sign up for it. Only players that already own the game and a Windows Mixed Reality headset will be considered for this first round of tests. Should you get chosen, you’ll also have to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

Those that are selected will get to see what potential VR has in this flight simulator. On paper, it has the chance to make this game all the better. After putting on a VR headset, you’ll get to take off and see incredible environmental details as if you’re actually piloting an aircraft in real life.

It’s a dream that many flying enthusiasts have wanted for so long. Even if you just have a casual interest in flight games, Microsoft Flight Simulator getting VR support should make for a very rewarding experience.

Asobo is looking to use this closed beta to see how they’ve faired thus far. There will surely be issues when the beta kicks off given just how detailed the standard version is.

However, if the developer can take inputs from fans and continue to tweak aspects of VR, then the sky is the limit for this incredible flight simulator that is almost perfect in every category. Even without VR, it’s a sensational and beautiful game to check out.
