Friday the 13th: The Game is Gun Media’s asymmetrical survival-horror game that has caught on like wildfire over the past few years. It pits camp counselors against Jason, the iconic slasher with super-human strength.
If you’ve ever seen this horror series on television or on the big screen, you know how well this game replicates the movies’ campy and fun horror elements. The game has now been out since 2017 and finally, its dedicated servers are about to go offline.
One last patch is going through and then, the dedicated servers will be no more sometime later in the month. This was bound to happen at some point, according to co-creator Wes Keltner. He’s appreciative of how far the game has come and will always be thankful for players that have stuck with the horror game since its beginning.
With all of that said, Friday the 13th: The Game will still live on and players can continue using the public and private matches to enjoy this game’s online multiplayer action. You also won’t have to worry about losing any progression because of the servers being taken down.
Games that really thrive online reach this point eventually. This game had a pretty good run all things considered and it will still be a fun game to play if you’re in the mood for surviving or playing as the iconic Jason.
There have been a lot of games in this particular genre of horror gaming, but Friday the 13th: The Game rose to fame quickly because of its fun and addicting nature. So many gamers streamed it via their Twitch channels after it first released. Just watching other people play the game is a fun time.
It’s fun seeing how players figure out ways to survive, whether it’s hiding under beds, waiting until time runs out, or trying to take out Jason head-on. And as far as being Jason Voorhees, that’s an amazing time that never gets old.
There are different versions of Jason that have been portrayed over the years in the movies, each with special abilities. As Jason, you feel like an unstoppable force and performing cinematic killing sequences is a thrill you’ll be looking for time and time again. Both sides have a lot of great things and that’s the reason why this slasher title has done so well.
Its dedicated servers may be no more after this month, but there are still reasons to enjoy it heading into 2021.
