The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a staggering amount of challenges to our daily lives and production. Crytek, developers of Hunt: Showdown, announced today that they, too, are facing difficulties.
In a recent tweet, Crytek announced that there would be complications in the release of their latest Hunt: Showdown patch. Update 1.3 is going to be pushed back for console players due to these complications.
“Due to Covid-19 in combination with our partner companies, certain things for Update 1.3 aren’t ready to go live just yet,” Crytek writes. “This means we have to push the update to next week. We are sorry for the delays and appreciate your patience.”
The good news is that, as the tweet says, it’s only being pushed back a week! As far as delays go, that isn’t too long of one to have to deal with.
Update Patch 1.3 is already live for those that play the game via Steam, so this delay won’t affect any PC players. The update is only being pushed back for those that enjoy the game’s console version.
Patch 1.3 was also a massive update that brought a huge amount of content to the game, so there’s definitely plenty that could’ve gone wrong in terms of the complications the team is experiencing. We discussed that patch here during its period of release in mid-April.
In short, the patch brings new content to the table such as two new variants to the AI and a handful of new equipment options as well. Additionally, the patch brought a new time of day, adding Sunset instead of simply Night and Day.
The addition of the Sunset timing also brought some strategic options along with it. With the sunlight beaming through, positioning became vital, as players could set themselves in a way that would keep their target blinded by the sun.
There have also been a handful of fixes since 1.3’s release for PC, which means that these fixes will also likely be delayed for console users. Towards the end of April, Crytek applied a variety of bug fixes and improvements to the content, polishing a few of the rougher edges.
These fixes included altering the sound design of the title, as well as adjusting a few visual and stability issues that were plaguing Hunt: Showdown. Crytek also brought dozens of bug fixes and alterations to the gameplay and AI to make everything run smoother.
Crytek hasn’t offered word on when exactly the patch will be dropping next week. Hopefully, they’ll be able to stick to this new timeline without suffering any further complications.
