Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched one week ago, and while it has no shortage of content, more stuff will be added to the first-person shooter in the coming months.
On Friday, reliable Call of Duty leaker The Gaming Revolution revealed the title of Modern Warfare’s post-launch DLC maps, as TGR listed 18 new maps that’ll be coming to COD soon.
- Wet Work
- Terminal
- Crash
- Vacant
- Broadcast
- Scrapyard
- Rust
- Farah
- Boneyard
- Caged
- Hook
- 4+ Ground War Maps
- 3+ Gunfight Maps
Unfortunately, The Gaming Revolution didn’t attach a release date to the leak, so we still don’t know when these maps will be added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Some of the maps listed above are new, while others like Crash and Vacant are from previous games in the franchise.
Before the release of Modern Warfare, Activision revealed that all post-launch DLC maps will be free. Also, instead of featuring a season pass, the game has a battle pass, but all content that’s tied to it won’t have an impact on gameplay, as the pass will only grant access to cosmetic items.
As of this writing, all functional in-game content such as guns and gear can be unlocked by playing the game, but that could change later.
On top of leaking the new maps, the aforementioned Gaming Revolution revealed that Infinity Ward is working on a battle royale mode for Modern Warfare, which will be released in January of 2020. Moreover, the expansion will be free to play, meaning that players who haven’t bought the latest installment of Call of Duty will be able to download the mode without paying a dime.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare relaunch has already surpassed Black Ops 4 in total sales, making it an instant success. So, the controversy surrounding the game in recent weeks didn’t have an impact on its sales.
Those who did purchase the game are likely enjoying it, as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare relaunch is the best-reviewed game in the series since 2011’s Modern Warfare 3. According to Meta Critic, the latest COD release is the fifth-best game in the franchise behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (94), Call of Duty 4 (92), Modern Warfare 3 (88), and the first Black Ops (87).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game is going to get a ton of post-launch DLC, and most of it will likely be free, making it the most fan-friendly COD release in recent memory.
