A keen player has noticed that a foe in Elden Ring is modeled after a memorable boss from the first Dark Souls. The popular action role-playing series Dark Souls was a significant inspiration for FromSoftware’s open-world souls. Unfortunately, even though Elden Ring borrows much from Dark Souls regarding gameplay and ideas, it also outright copies one of the game’s most notorious bosses.
Despite its large open world and innovative take on the souls-borne genre, Elden Ring shares several similarities with Dark Souls despite its large open world. It’s evident that Dark Souls inspired the game’s emphasis on RPG elements and build variation rather than recent FromSoftware efforts like Bloodborne or Sekiro. The most astute fans have even uncovered that a portion of the Elden Ring is recycled from earlier games in the Dark Souls series.
Player characters, for instance, will undoubtedly face Ulcerated Tree Spirits as an intense boss fight if they delve deeply into the Lands Between. It has been deduced through data mining that the Ulcerated Tree Spirit originally appeared in Dark Souls 3 but was later removed and recycled for usage in Elden Ring.
Datamining Twitter user king Bored, haha, recently uncovered that the Capra Demon from the first Dark Souls served as inspiration for the strong Omenkiller found in Elden Ring.
The Omenkiller appears either as a field boss in the Liurnia of the Lakes section or as a regular late-game monster. Fans of Dark Souls will recognize this formidable foe as the Capra Demon; the game’s notoriously challenging early boss that wields twin swords and fights alongside a pair of hounds. Now we know that the two monsters share the same moveset data, as King Bored revealed, making the Omenkiller a carbon copy of the Capra Demon.
Gamers have noted the parallels between the Omenkiller and the Capra Demon, but king bore has helped clarify that the two bosses are practically the same.
