The debut of Meta’s subsequent VR headset in October was announced on a podcast on Thursday by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Nevertheless, as we have already stated, this new headset is more likely to appeal to businessmen than gamers.

On the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast, comedian Joe Rogan and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had an almost three-hour conversation on Meta, virtual martial arts, and other subjects. Rogan began the event by talking about his adventure with a new VR headgear, which prompted Zuckerberg to say that Meta’s new headset will go on sale in October.

We can only hope that it receives better feedback than Zuckerberg’s terrible metaverse selfie.

According to Zuckerberg, this is all about fostering human connection. The CEO of Meta mentioned “social awareness” characteristics, including the headset’s capability to track facial emotions and recreate eye contact with users.

According to Zuckerberg, verbal communication is less common when people are together than nonverbal communication.

This appears to be a reference to Project Cambria, an AR/VR hybrid device designed for professionals and equipped with internal sensors.

One of four headsets that Meta intends to release by 2024. Originally scheduled for release last year, Cambria was delayed until the fall and had an $800 price tag. However, the pricing may remain uncertain for the time being, given that Meta recently increased the cost of the Quest 2 VR headset by $100.

In order to put virtual overlays on actual environments while replacing the standard workstation with virtual replicas, Project Cambria incorporates outward-facing cameras that enable full-color passthrough. As a result, employees at Meta have called the device a “face-mounted laptop.

Even though the Quest VR headsets weren’t discussed much on the podcast, Zuckerberg did note briefly that the upcoming VR gaming headset will be a “massive improvement over the Oculus 2.
