Half the crowd erupted with excitement over a last-minute update released by Microsoft for the Xbox Game Pass, whereas the other half got downright angry. With the statement “look who joined the party!” accompanied by an image that threw the players into a frenzy, the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account gave a little peek into the new additions. Some rejoiced; some were angry.
Two new games were added to the service: Tales of Symphonia and Crypt Custodiam. If you are thinking triple-A titles, probably unlike that. Symphonia is the beloved classic JRPG with an Indie. And judging by reactions, the reception for it is… so-so.
Some of the gamers are actually a little excited about these developments. “Yes, Crypt Custodiam was on my wish list 🥰,” Carlos GarcÃa tweeted in delight. “Symphonia looks cool. Looking forward to playing,” said Ohmnesia in approval. Then there are others, though—those that expected much more.
“Wtf is this we want FC25,” stated one, expressing the voice of a sizeable portion that were calling for EA Sports FC 25. Another was quite literal: “Not Black Ops 2,” basically saying, “I don’t like this.” And then there’s the guy who just wants Cookie Clicker. Priorities, of course.
Demand for EA Sports FC 25 was even repeated. “Fc25 by tomorrow or we riot,” stated one player, while another player pleaded, “We want fc25 on game pass.” Sounds like valid frustration considering the current FIFA/FC cycle is wrapping up and players are all itching for the next one.
But that wasn’t all. Some went on to praise the service itself. One trade confessed, “As a PlayStation owner/fan for many years I’ll say it ‘Xbox is better.'” Others want some older classics like Def Jam: Fight for NY or Transformers added to the slate.
And that’s where all hell began to break loose. One was demanding a Young Sheldon game (??), to which another chimed in, “What’s the difference between a melody and a symphony? One is now on GamePass.” You’ve got to love those spontaneous jokes.
So, how about these additions? If you’re a Tales of Symphonia for JRPGs is a no-brainer, being a remaster of the cult classic, whereas Crypt Custodiam is a wild card. It’s been generating some buzz on indie circles but putting that aside, it’s just another cool new range of games for Game Pass members to jump into.
Can this make everyone happy? Absolutely not. Gamers are ardent people; when their expectations do not match reality, the internet lets them know about it. But oh well, there is always something new in store for you on Game Pass. Maybe next time it is going to be FC25. Or Cookie Clicker. Who knows?
