All in all, Xbox just unleashed a big old Deals Unlocked sale, and yet the gaming population… well, isn’t entirely agreed on whether it’s a good thing worth having all that excitement over. The official Xbox Twitter account almost willfully went against the flow with a hype tweet, “You don’t wanna miss this sale,” but the players had VERY divergent opinions on whether these deals were actually worth touting.

First off: those were some great deals! Some gamers were reporting titles like Persona 5, Nier, Alan Wake Remastered for a whopping $4, NBA 2K25 for $10, and others for low sale prices. One very hyped gamer shouted, “Leeeeeetsssss goooooo, thank u xbox,” to which another responded, “SALES? I’m on my way,” as if rushing to a Black Friday doorbuster. Oblivion Remaster was brought up by several as well, with one player urging anyone who has yet to experience it to jump on the deal.

Things started getting a little dicey when the GamePass argument seemed overly comfortable erupting in the chat almost immediately, with some questioning; why buy games when you could just subscribe? “Doesn’t the games pass get you that anyways?” a player inquired, igniting a whole thread on ownership vs. subscription models. “Game pass games change, ownership is forever if you BUY” came some responses. The debate went on with several pointing out that many do not even have Game Pass and that many titles in the sale aren’t even on the service.

Some in the crowd felt slighted on behalf of physical media, with one complaining, “We still want physical games not digital codes in a box,” while another asked if there were any plans to release physical editions of titles like Gears Remastered. So it’s obvious that a faction of the playerbase just hasn’t caught on to the digital-only future.

Then came very… let’s say… creative responses. One user rather absurdly linked the sale to Xbox’s LGBTQ+ support, asking, “Why does Xbox bend the knee to sexual deviants?” Another one just plainly stated, “Xbox is dead,” without a blasted explanation. Classic Twitter chaos.

One player was very sure of what they wanted: “Dark Souls III deluxe edition sale when?” asked one Souls aficionado, while somebody else called out Xbox for featuring The Outer Worlds in a showcase yet leaving it out of this sale. And poor Techyghost850 had to sit this one out, tweeting, “Mate I just bought FFXVI im gonna have to miss the sale 🤣.”

And THE funniest bit? MemeableWho shared a gif of somebody giving a desperate entry to yet another Xbox Rog Ally giveaway with the caption, “Me entering my 12th xbox rog ally giveaway today like maybe this is the one (☞゚ヮ゚)☞” – sums it all up for anyone who’s ever gone full throttle on those endless console giveaways.

When it comes to sales and their offers, one thing is for sure: opinions fly. Some people managed to pick absolute bargain titles, some found the selection disrespectfully small, and others just came for the memes. For whatever reason you go for, it cannot be denied that the Deals Unlocked sale saw its fair share of raging conversations throughout the Xbox fandom. Now, if someone would excuse me, it’s time to see if Alan Wake for $4 is still an option…
