Alrighty, gentlemen, stop whatever you are doing. One of those collaborations that no one thought would ever have a chance but everybody secretly kind of really wanted to occur went down: DOOM-style priced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. Now the internet is in a mad frenzy. The official @TonyHawkTheGame tweet just teased that his deluxe edition, with a skate emoji and an uncrackable link, got the players into a frenzy. Let’s face it- anything that’s DOOM x Tony Hawk is just going to be totally epic.
At starting, the deluxe edition is something beyond a simple remaster. No sir. It has got to be one totally badass event with DOOM content thrown in for good measure. DOOM skins, baby! This is shutting rails as the Doom Slayer. Because seriously, what’s “extreme sports” if you can’t grind on rails dressed as a demon-slaying badass? Now, while there wasn’t much detail given as to what was on offer in this post, the reply all? Man, they’re on another level-hype, confusion, and just a little salt for the best recipe ever.
The comments section turned into full-scale ambush mode from players with declarations and questions going from “HELL YEAH” to “Wait, why is this a thing??” One user @DCleroux89, however, criticized the pricing as “super lame” since the DOOM skins were behind a $25 upgrade rather than being something you’d be able to unlock in the base game. Then another user says, @paavali_henki, hit the nail on the head: “What a rad doom, dood.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
On that lore tip, @V1reallyreal delivered a great quote: “And those that tasted the bite of his tricks named him… The DOOM Skater.” That’s just poetry! Then @Greggs_ really went in full DOOMguy energy mode with SHRED AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE, which in all fairness appears to be the unofficial rallying cry for the entire crossover. @Timothy_Mark7 pleaded for the original Praetor suit to be brought back in DOOM Dark Ages, showing just how deeply players are invested in the aesthetic possibilities of this mashup.
With that comes the big question: Are there demons? Straight-from-the-gut @Fuzzy_Rule question, and for real, all of us are currently awaiting the answer. Imagine landing a 900 while being chased by one Hell Knight-“next-level gameplay,” as they’d say. @CannibalRedd kicked it further: “Grind on the corpses of demons,” and honestly, might end up being the tutorial for this game.
Multitudes are going along with the flow. @Alex_petro97 confirmed the purchase but lamented the skin not unlocking for Game Pass members, bummer. @Savageking_30 queried about whether the physical copy could be updated to the digital deluxe edition, which is… a good question. Anybody out there got any answers?
Oh, and those background conversations are just random and hilarious. @eva_adict and @T_King_Of_Lust approve highly of all the Doom Slayer skateboarding skills (or lack of) and topped it off with the emoji art. Because why not?
So is it hype or hype machine? This crossover is the greatest thing since sliced bread, or it’s a weird cash grab, depending on whom you ask. But one thing that is for sure is that it gets people talking. Whether you’re staying for the nostalgia or absurdity, or just to watch the Doom Slayer kickflip his way through hell-Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Deluxe Edition sure is gearing up for a wild ride. Now, if you will excuse me, I gotta hit pre-order before FOMO hits me all over again!
