The open sandbox RPG Kenshi has done quite well for itself since releasing in March of 2013. It immediately gained overwhelmingly positive reviews for its unique art style, incredible character creator, diversity in activities, and compelling storylines.

It may not have a huge name that people recognize in the gaming community, but if you fancy yourself a fan of RPGs with endless things to do, Kenshi is a must-play experience. To highlight just how well it has done over the years, the developer Lo-Fi Games recently put out an impressive stat.

To date, Kenshi has gone on to sell a million copies globally. That’s quite an impressive feat that just further shows how great of an RPG experience this title is. There are just so many things to see and do in this game.

In fact, there are a total of 870 square kilometers to move through in Kenshi. That’s plenty of area to cover throughout your time and honestly, you probably won’t be able to see it all. You can still try and see what fun adventures you can get into.

Since this game doesn’t have a linear story, you can do whatever you please at any time. That can include building up your defenses, training soldiers to be elite warriors, and growing closer to factions so that your empire can rise to great heights.

How you decide to approach this RPG is completely up to you and that added freedom just makes Kenshi seem endless in terms of possibilities.

Starting off, you’ll choose a character model and role. From there, you’ll be able to progress and enhance your character’s skills depending on how you want to approach gameplay. Eventually, you’ll get to the point of controlling a squad. That’s when things get really interesting.

You can build up an unstoppable empire and take over region after region all while making tough decisions along the way. Just be careful. Making pacts with the wrong parties or crossing former allies will result in consequences. That adds weight to your decisions and keeps you tuned in to what’s happening at the moment.

It’s not that surprising to see Kenshi soar to a million sold copies. It’s an incredible RPG that you can play time and time again and still find new quests, NPCs, and challenges to master. Even as we approach 2021, it’s still one of the better RPGs that never ceases to provide meaningful content.
