Super Meat Boy Forever still has no release date, and yet the developer is already planning a DLC.
But this is a case of “be careful what you wish for” because the expansion is described as “ridiculously hard.”
Tommy Refenes, Super Meat Boy Forever designer, was interviewed during the recent PAX East 2019. In a talk with Dualshockers, said they plan on releasing a DLC after the launch.
The DLC will add more levels and difficulty to the game. Although he declined to provide more details, what’s clear is that they will amplify the difficulty level.
This could be bad news for some fans as the sequel is already hard as it is presently constructed. For instance, the 7,200 levels will result in almost unlimited iterations because they are dynamically combined. This means that you seemingly have a new challenge when you play.
The boss battles in the sequel will be bigger than ever. Meanwhile, Meat Boy and Bandage Girls are no longer just running. They can actually unleash their anger at their enemies. That’s what Dr. Fetus’ minions get for kidnapping their daughter!
The difficulty level in the sequel can be summed up in this additional kink–it’s an auto-runner. This is quite different from the original game where you have more control.
But as the description by the developer says, the game itself is difficult, but it’s fair. Whether that still holds once the DLC arrives is another matter altogether.
The Super Meat Boy Forever is the sequel to Super Meat Boy released in October 2010. In the second installment, Meat Boy returns with Bandage Girl as they sprint, jump, slide, kick through obstacles.
There are at least 7,000 levels they need to go through to save their daughter, Nugget, from arch nemesis Dr. Fetus.
The events kick off where the first game left off. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have been enjoying a peaceful life as a couple. They even had a daughter as they live their lives in normalcy. However, their happiness is only temporary as Dr. Fetus took precious Nugget.
Super Meat Boy Forever will be available as an exclusive for Epic Games Store. The game still has no release date as the website says that it’s coming soon. The report, however, pointed to a Spring release date.
Super Meat Boy Forever will be released on Microsoft Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
