Since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released last year to rave reviews, everyone has been chomping at the bit to find out what EA’s next big Star Wars project is going to be.

Now, thanks to a Twitter bot called psnrelease, we at lease know the working title of the next major project coming to the Star Wars Universe.

Star Wars: Project Maverick appears to be the name of an all new game that will be coming to the PlayStation (and possibly other systems) in the near future.

This Twitter bot automatically posts new titles that are added to the PlayStation Network. While Project Maverick seems like a working title (like the Xbox Series X was originally called Project Scarlett), it was paired with artwork that shows off the same name.

The leak is coming from Sony, however it is unlikely that Project Maverick will end up being a PlayStation exclusive. Following EA trends in recent years, it is likely that the game will also see a release on Xbox and PC.

Of course, it is also unknown whether this would be a release coming for the current generation of consoles, or whether the timing of its release will put it on either the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

It has been no secret that EA has several Star Wars titles in development, clearly trying to get a lot of legs out of its gaming contract with Disney.

It is possible that Project Maverick will have some kind of multiplayer aspect to it, but most experts do not think that it will involve VR.

EA Motive, a studio that contains the remnants of BioWare Montreal, has been working on a secret Star Wars project for some time. It has been described by some as a “smaller, more unusual project.” That means it is unlikely to retrace any ground that BioWare or EA have walked on throughout their long history with the Star Wars Universe.

Of course, BioWare Montreal was the studio that rushed out Mass Effect: Andromeda, to the delight of absolutely no one. However, it is also part of the studio that created Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic, so there’s both good or bad in their ledger.

It is unknown at this time whether Project Maverick is actually the EA Motive project, or if it is something else entirely. Only time will tell for sure and we will be checking on this story as more news breaks.
