The Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has crossed yet another threshold: 120,000 concurrent players on Steam. Yes, you read that right. More than 120,000 people were actually playing this game at once. That’s two stadiums filled full, not for sports, but for grinding through the Expeditions. Crazy, right?

So why all this ruckus about Expedition 33? Have you been living under a rock (no judgments here)? Well, Clair Obscur is that dark atmospheric RPG that has been on fire for months. The devs teased insane mechanics, an extensive lore system, and satisfying-yet-challenging combat. Now? You get the drift.

There are Steam numbers to prove it-this is not a one-off title. It does have some legs. Maybe it’s the art style that looks like some Byzantine painting brought back to life. Or is it that je-ne-sais-quoi about the way the progression has been set up that allows one to feel victorious even on the most subtle of upgrades? Whichever way one looks at it, it seems to be bottomed out.

Now about that #Expedition33-that’s trending. Clips of the players having crazy fun with boss fights, glitching through walls (yikes), and totally losing it over plot twists are flooding Twitter. The community is lively and that’s half the fun.

So really, what gives? The game has been around for a while, but now? It could be hitting critical mass via word of mouth, or maybe a well-known streamer got to showcase it for a bit. Or, and yes, the naysayers can talk-the devs just might have sprung a surprise update on everybody. Surely, it would not be the first time a sudden patch made the game explode with players.

For whatever reason, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has gotten into the limelight. And if you haven’t jumped into this? Well, maybe do that before the next one comes along because if this is what 120k players look like, just imagine what havoc will be wreaked when the next big update is dropped.

And there it is. 120K. Not too shabby for a game whose premise is wandering about in some cursed painting. Not too shabby at all.
