The short time left for finishing individual challenges-Winter is TICKING! If you haven’t worked on your individual ones yet-just stop anything you’re doing and get down to doing it ASAP. Like, right now. There was a tweet from Epic Games that could dearly have been stamped all over in huge letters saying LAST CHANCE!
The actual tweet is pretty much cut and dried-come in or miss the juicy, juicy rewards for good. Seriously, who doesn’t want free stuff? Especially when it comes to Fortnite rewards that will probably never see daylight in GM again. Those kinds of FOMO are in a league of their own, seeing that they have a definite expiration.
What’s being said actually, is that some individual challenges-said to be from this season or event, probably-are going to be locked for all eternity in a matter of days. The tweet doesn’t give specifics about which challenges are being put in that category, leaving Epic with the age-old art of dangling the soon-to-be-gone carrot in front of our eyes as we guess what it is.
The link is probably to read more about the challenges or go to the shop, but who even clicks those? We’re too busy panic-dropping into matches just to grind out whatever was due. You have at least one challenge sitting right there at 90% completion waiting for you to wrap it up. You know the_ deal damage with this specific weapon_ ones? Then there are the_ place top 10 in squads when I solo_ ones that are the cherry on top.
This isn’t the first time Epic has played this last-minute reminder on us; it loves dangling the carrot just out of reach. Remember the time they used this trick in the Marvel season? Oh, and that other time with Gold Peely? See?
Listen up, procrastinators-Pro tip-check your challenge log! If that still exists, arrange it by closest to expiration date. Settle down with some friends willing to help you out of any tough ones. For the Llama’s sake, don’t be that one person next week, who hops on Reddit about how they just “needed one more headshot” to finish that set.
But seriously, why do we always wait until the final weekend? Human nature? Probably. Also, the mind-games Fortnite plays on us are exquisitely curated. The tracks lure us back into grinding, and oh, the pressure from an impending deadline? Chef’s kiss to the player engagement metrics.
Well, anyways, stop reading and finish those challenges before the vault swallows them. Thank your future self for having the chance to flex that precious grind priority cosmetic item next season and rub it in the noses of all the poor new players. Unless it’s some lame 50 battle stars-or something. In this case, sleep may win.
But that probably won’t win. This is Fortnite; FOMO always wins.
