Fortnite has declared probably the most unexpected crossover in the whole wide world, and the whole internet is buzzing. Darth Jar Jar-breath, indeed THE Jar Jar Binks, is now confirmed for the game within the new season of Star Wars. So if you thought it couldn’t get any weirder with Fortnite, think again.
For those who somehow missed the wildest Star Wars conspiracy theory in history, Darth Jar Jar was a fan theory implying that the clumsy, abused Gungan in Episode I was actually a Sith Lord pulling the strings the whole time. This theory gained so much traction that even some of the actors from the films low-key supported it. And now it seems almost canonical with Fortnite adding him as a character.
The announcement tweet shook the ground, but strangely, it doesn’t seem to have many replies. Perhaps people are just busy comprehending that unthinkable absurdity? Or maybe they are all just super busy logging into Fortnite right now to see if it has any shred of truth?
What is crazy about this is, this isn’t even the first time Fortnite has twisted the meme world a bit. Remember Thanos as the playable boss? How about that one time they turned the entire map into a giant banana? By now, we shouldn’t expect anything, but here we are.
The new Star Wars season is already a grab bag of lightsabers, blasters, and Stormtrooper skins, and throwing in the Darth Jar Jar is just next-level trolling. Will we gain some special powers? Will his clumsiness be a mechanic? Or will he just yell, “Meesa gonna win!” while accidentally blowing up the competition?
What is certain is that Fortnite is good at surprise-making. Weighing in one way or the other, you’ve got to give it to disruptive energy-like Jar Jar for bearing so much surprise. Imagine if they threw Baby Yoda aboard a llama, and the internet would just explode!
So, if you haven’t opened your Fortnite in a minute, now just might be the time to do so. The Star Wars season has already a whole lot to offer, and Darth Jar Jar would just be the cherry on top of that crazy sundae. What else would come? Another suggestion is a Sith Ewok. Some might say anything goes at this point.
And if you’re one of those who feel Jar Jar was a bad character and not a secret Sith mastermind, well, Fortnite might just have something to say about that. Or, at least, it might give you a reason to finally accept the meme. Either way, it’s going to be a mess. A beautiful and ridiculous mess.
So hit those lightsabers, get in the Battle Bus, and prepare for the most unexpected season of Fortnite we’ve ever seen. Because Epic Games likes to keep us guessing. And, honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
