Now five years down the line, you can call it nostalgia-sharing from Fortnite when a teaser for one of the biggest collabs of all times-a rapper called Travis Scott beside Fortnite-caught the attention of the fans back then. “The Travis Scott x Fortnite teaser is 5 YEARS OLD now” tweeted Fortnite, and linked to the original video. Time sure flies, huh?
For those who were not there or just need a quick refresher, this was one of those monumental events: the Travis Scott x Fortnite event was more than just a concert in a game; it was now an all-in-out culture event.
Astronomical, the April 2020 event, transformed Fortnite into a psychedelic, larger-than-life concert experience, in which players vibed through his biggest hits while a giant Travis Scott avatar stomped through the map. It’s one of those you-had-to-be-there moments, and honestly? It still holds up.
But the question, like, zero replies? Like, what? For a tweet remembering such an important moment in gaming and pop culture history, that’s crazy! You’d think fans would have been spamming replies with memories, screenshots, or maybe just keyboard mashing with excitement. Or maybe they would rather be busy reliving it on YouTube(?)-fairness.
Either way, the number of people commenting on the tweet has not reduced how momentous this collaboration was the very first time around.
Apart from the few previous trials Fortnite had made with some live events, this was a different level setting. It showed that games were no longer imaginary places where players simply kill each other or fight for bragging rights. They were worthy enough to host global events. And honestly, every other in-game concert had something to prove after this.
Or maybe the fans are saving that love for Epic’s next “big thing”? Maybe they are still not over the first hype? Well, it’s Happy Anniversary to the coolest crossover in gaming history, and we hope there is something equally mind-bending in store at Epic.
And if you missed it? Then you better go and check it out. Seriously!
