Based on the rumor circulating online, the Metal Gear Solid series is coming to PC and PS5 exclusively. According to YouTube channel RedGamingTech, which focuses on hardware news, and seems to have been dropping accurate leaks in the past.

However, this time, RedGamingTech received word from unknown sources that Konami is in the process of rebuilding Metal Gear Solid for PC and PS5. This means Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and 4 will be getting imperative improvements, which could lead to a form of remasters. Even though it was clearly stated that the Metal Gear Solid series is coming to both PC and PS5, it’s still not certain whether Konami is porting the series to PS5 or whether it’s coming to PC yet.

To even add, Gematsu, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating group did rate the original Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for PC. However, we can’t say how far Konami is into the development of Metal Gear Solid remake, but its rumored news tallies with the news making the rounds.

For instance, Sony has been funding third party publishers to get these game publishers in on exclusive PS5 deals. One example is Final Fantasy XVI. So, in that sense, a remake of Metal Gear Solid is quite reasonable, knowing it’s a series almost synonymous with PlayStation and even PC. Again, this is achievable when you consider how Sony funded a similar project: the popular Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Also, user Potterson on the ResetERA forums recently revealed that Metal Gear Solid and Meta Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty will be coming to PC.

Here’s what Potterson said:

I’ll use the Bethesda chaos to just say…Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 are coming to PC (again).

Then after some while, he added that a port of Metal Gear is currently in the works. However, he also stated if the games will be released as single entries or just packed in a bundle.

In his own words:

Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 are currently in the works. I don’t know if they are a part of a bundle or sold separately.

That’s all for now. However, this is all speculation as we haven’t heard anything from Sony or Konami as of this writing. Moreover, the rumor can be Sony’s response to Microsoft’s heavy acquisition earlier this week.

Notwithstanding, we’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out, as something good may come out of the whole drama.
