PlayStation has set someone ways free games for June for PS Plus subscribers, and the extreme spectrum of reactions includes everything from an outburst of elation to dismissive meanders. Some were genuinely perplexed and wondered why Deer Simulator was left out; more on that later.
So, what is in fact being offered? While largely imagined hype was on NBA 2K25’s release, the headlining lineup is Alone in the Dark (adored by all the survival-horror fans) and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (arguably the biggest crowd-pleaser, seeing by the reply counts). Oh, and then there’s also this Destiny 2 expansion thing, but seemingly not many people are really hyped about that.
Mayhem ensues in the responses now; it was all vented out. Some gamers like @oliverislost keep singing praises for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk calling it “so good,” whereas there are accounts such as @gary_rollinson supporting the notion of this month being “utter rubbish,” and then @BewareofFatty is basically shouting “Holy fucking ASS, Batman” before leaving at that.
And so began the NBA 2K25 conversation. In fact, some players like @David_JamesUSA are hot at the very fact that it is even listed, saying it “should never get the Plus” treatment. Then others like @LambierRic76759 started ranting about how 2K are “ripping off gamers” and accusing PlayStation of “helping promote gambling to children.” What now?
Alone in the Dark had a few more mixed reactions. Maybe @TheKaboomSlayer straight-up asked if it was “actually worth a shot,” while @OROyCAP held to their claim that they tried it and felt that it was “a fun survival horror.” Hey, @DeadCarnival compared the whole lineup to what Xbox used to call Games With Gold: “REALLY BAD,” so… yeah.
Then some weird magic happens: Deer Simulator. @Bananahs77 appears out of the mists to ask, “Yo where’s deeeeerrrrr simulator in the lineup?” because apparently, it’s part of a PS Stars mission but not actually in the monthly games, which is confusing.
The console war, as expected, could not have been left out. @MartialDL was poking fun at PlayStation for giving “games that barely made money” while Xbox “gets the most recent games for free.” In response, @kullninja123 reacted with “game pass is a joke” and urged everyone to “just buy the games.” Classic.
At the end of the day, a few people are willing to play the games; @Hexargo_0 says PlayStation “convinced” them to try the first two. But those who are not? Eh, @Funky_ghoe says it best: “Wack af. Like who the fck play 2k lmfao.”
Another PlayStation Plus release, and yet another month when gamers are either releasing or ready to riot. Will you be grabbing any of these? Or is this yet another “skip” for you? Either way, the discussion is chef’s kiss entertainment.
