As a warning, we’ll be discussing a sneak peek into the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion here, so be warned of spoilers!
Blizzard has been working hard to make sure that everything in World of Warcraft continues as planned, with plans already having been disrupted. The COVID-19 pandemic struck their production efforts hard enough to force them to delay the release of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
With so much on their plate, they’ve also been working to make sure that the hype for the release continues on. To that end, they’ve been releasing sneak peeks into the zones of the Shadowlands with their Shadowlands from Above series.
We’ve already discussed three other zones – Bastion, Maldraxxus, and Ardenweald – and Blizzard has dropped the fourth in their series with Revendreth, home of the vampiric Venthyr. Here, the gothic atmosphere is visible at a single glance.
One thing that many have pointed out is that there’s quite a bit we didn’t see in this sneak peek. Blizzard has made it clear that there are two incredibly important NPCs, lore-wise, in Revendreth that don’t appear in this video.
Kael’thas Sunstrider, former leader of the Sin’dorei and fallen fan favorite, is nowhere to be seen in this sneak peek. We also don’t see Garrosh Hellscream, who we know from the Afterlives video is being used as a consistent source of Anima.
There’s still quite a bit to be seen, of course, such as the immediately-recognizable architecture, providing a strong contrast against other zones. Compared to the natural aesthetic of Ardenweald, for example, the dark and grim gothic architecture strikes an undeniable appearance.
We’re also given a glimpse inside and at the outskirts and courtyards of Castle Nathria itself, which will serve as the first raid for the expansion. Players are also able to see the Redelav District, the home of the nobility of the land of Revendreth that players will interact with.
Players are also likely to recognize many of the creatures that wander the land of Revendreth that will undoubtedly serve both as allies and opponents. Gargoyles and vampiric humanoids occupy Revendreth, waiting for adventurers to come.
Overall, there’s a great amount to see in this sneak peek, and players are excited to hop into the gothic zone. This also completes the four primary zones, so unless Blizzard releases a sneak peek of the Maw, this is likely the end of the Shadowlands from Above series.
