British Retail Publisher Perp Games has announced the release of a limited edition physical version of developer and publisher ARVORE’s Pixel Ripped 1989. The physical edition is only for PlayStation VR owners.

Only 1,500 copies of the Pink Cassette Physical Edition will be released, but fans will have the option to purchase the Pixel Ripped 1989 Physical Edition at a lower cost. Fans of the game will have to act fast to pick up the very limited version before they’re released.

The Pink Cassette Physical Edition will only be sold through the Perp Games website. Players within the UK can order it directly through the site, but anyone outside of the US should contact the company via email for a direct quote.

The Pink Cassette Physical Edition is packaged with a pink cassette USB drive, which is packed with digital goodies, like the official soundtrack for Pixel Ripped 1989, wallpaper, and exclusive art. Also included is a limited edition set of 3 postcards, signed by the Game Director, Ana Ribeiro. All of these goodies are packed in an authentic, 1980s style game box to keep the collection safe while not in use.

The standard edition of the game will continue to sell until supplies are depleted. There is no exact count of how many games are available, but players can continue to order them until further notice.

Pixel Ripped 1989 is an homage to the early days of gaming. Players travel through classic video games and beyond during the era of portable 8-bit consoles. The game follows Dot, an in-game character, whose world is torn apart from Cyblin Lord. The villain has the power to break through the screen into the real world. Nicola, a second-grade elementary school student, has to help Dot save both the game and the real world.

Pixel Ripped 1989 was previously released on PC via Steam and PlayStation 4 VR in July 2018 but has since been released on the Springport, Viveport, and Oculus Rift.

The store website doesn’t state when the limited physical editions of the game will launch, but it should be within the next few months. Players in the US will have to wait since items ship from the UK.

The Pixel Ripped 1989 physical editions are available for pre-order now.
