Xbox chief Phil Spencer got an interview that is probably not all that crisp, and gamers are very much excited about the insider perspective given. Spencer spoke his mind, not caring about anything, about everything from Xbox Showcase to ROG Ally X and Play Anywhere features. Players had opinions.
Let’s just say about the Xbox Showcase, of which, according to Spencer, some rather big announcements will be out very soon. Already the speculation is going on about potential reveals- could it be that we finally get to see a tease for Gears 6? Or maybe totally something crazy? The hype train is out, whatever.
Then there’s the ROG Ally X, which is Xbox and ASUS collaborating to build the most powerful handheld console ever. Spencer mentioned that it will allow uninterrupted voice chat integration with Discord-a killer feature for the gamer who hates having to toggle out of their game to chat. But some perspectives are dissatisfied, with @PancakesZA lamenting that the Ally X would never come to their region (coughSouth Africacough).
And then there would be some love for Xbox Play Anywhere. Spencer went on to describe how different it is as the player does not lose progress whether the player has selected to play on the console or on the PC. That might actually be a big thing to some who keep bouncing around different devices to game. However, some replies such as @cena_ok appear to be against a digital-only future: “We want physical Xbox games, not digital codes in boxes.”
Then there had to be spicy opinions in an Xbox conversation. @AvgFactEnjoyer just wanted to know: “When will the countless studios they own start making good games?” Ouch. In a strange turn of events @SuperStraight00 then launched into some weird rant about LGBTP propaganda, which…okay then.
Yet those chats were far from negative. Many players like @AllDayHabs applauded Xbox for keeping it real with their fans. “What other gaming brand does interviews like this?” they questioned. And @SegaSwole just dropped “Phil the thrill!!! Love that guy!!” alongside a hype GIF.
Now? That full episode is out (a link to the same was provided in the tweet), and the players are already dissecting every word while: Will ROG Ally X storm the handheld market? Will Play Anywhere make the skeptics finally go digital? And most importantly: When will we finally get that Showcase date?
What can be agreed on: This Xbox, definitely not playing it safe, is a fiasco that no gamer should be missing. Now, if someone could just ask Phil about Stellar Blade coming to Xbox (@CyberBFoStar’s request, definitely not mine).
