Capcom has given an excellent announcement to excite the Monster Hunter-verse. Free Title Update 2 shall arrive at the end of June! This was the announcement made from the direct Twitter account of Monster Hunter by creating a frenzy among the hunters all agog about what the next events would hold.

Besides new monsters or should I say monsters (plural!), layered weapons, and much more from various other updates from the recent Director’s Letter, no mention was made about what exactly. And so there was no trailer. They didn’t even give the specifics attached to which monsters will be coming in. Classic Capcom style really; they like to keep our mouths pot shut till the very last moment.

Now hunters immediately started speculating in the comment section. Hunter @MastyJust was all over the announcement over the plural meaning monsters while others like @Bahamute13 were pleading for Lagiacrus to come back. Mentioning layered weapons made @JamesStPaulESOL excited and nostalgic way to stir up more speculations.

But not all are content. Some gamers such as @benny909274171 give these fancied “free” updates a side glance, hinting that Capcom just carved up a chunk of content from the base game to sell in drips later. Ouch! Meanwhile, PC players like @SDhwaihi are still demanding high-priority fixes such as brightness adjustment so we can even think about new content.

Another hot potato for the game is its performance. @w1hs141 lamented the recently mostly negative Steam review because of the server issue, whereas @ShuriStarlit sarcastically said, “The crashes and disconnects are the best way to kill new content,” with another comment saying the game has FIVE DRM systems working against its performance. Ouch!

The timing itself was a bit off. @richter_h_ was joking about making clear space for Monster Hunter Wild, and @UhWaifu, in curiosity, said that everybody’s playing Dune right now. But birthday boi @AquaAzeem’s call of it being the “best gift ever” means some hunters are full-on hype.

Let’s talk about this “S” in monsters now; @Devetron is sure this means multiple new creatures beyond just Lagiacrus. The Director’s Letter mentioned new tempered monsters and an AT (Arch-Tempered) monster will most probably bring some serious end-game challenges.

No word on when we’ll ever really get to see a proper showcase. There was @palekhezu bluntly asking, “TU2 showcase, when?” And I honestly feel the same. Capcom is keeping a low profile on the details. Now the update is going to land at the latest by June 30. Means you have two weeks’ worth of speculations and wishlists.

The return is something some hunters are already somewhat planning on. @justthefacts212 said they’d come back if there was enough content, while @FutureSaitaWolf has…interesting viewpoints on the Seikret mount improvements (dude really wants to walk everywhere apparently).

One thing for sure is that the Monster Hunter community is still as passionate as ever. Whether they’re hyped, skeptical, or simply demanding fixes, everyone has a lot to say about the update. We just play the waiting game to see if Capcom is going to deliver their promise or just leave hunters wanting more.

For every monster slayer, the end of June cannot come soon enough. Let’s hope those layer weapons look sick and that those beasts put up a good fight. You know, maybe sort out those PC issues first.
