A GTA 6 leak passes by every day. This time, something about the prone mechanic, allegedly in the early builds and perhaps cut before release. The whole internet is going mental over it.

Leaked footage allegedly shared on X shows one of the animations for an alleged early build of GTA 6 in which the character goes prone. The animations look rough, and the movement is so clunky that it honestly looked weird. It is as if somebody glued a GTA character to the floor. But hey, that’s pre-alpha footage; what did we expect?

Now, the real question: The gamers are somewhat of a dilemma as some are heartbroken, saying going prone should have added new dimensions to combat, especially with those RP scenarios (good wishes to the GTA IV Military RP crowd). Others are laughing at how janky it looks and suggesting Rockstar probably canceled it for a good reason.

One user, @rockstationonx, implied that if the prone mechanic was scrapped, it was probably due to it never quite feeling right in the finished game. To be fair, this is pretty much true. Rockstar isn’t known for being ham-fisted with mechanics; if something doesn’t work, it’s simply removed.

But herein lies the divergence in argument: @EvanNemesis1312 and sundry others say prone would have opened up huge gameplay opportunities: stealth missions, better cover mechanics, realistic firefights—you name it. And yeah, that is true, but if it didn’t work well, is it really worth it?

And here’s the kicker: no one really knows if it has been really cut. The leak is from 2022, and Rockstar has kept mum ever since. So it’s like, maybe it’s still in? Maybe it’s been reworked? Maybe it is just buried under some weird button combo? Who knows?

With the speculation still hot, the gamers just want to stay grounded. @GtaIv24751162 said, “Nothing is concrete.” The people are “mating for disappointment.” And in truth? Fair enough. GTA 6 hype is standing at the zenith, and expectations are through the roof. If prone isn’t in the final game, some folks are going to be pissed.

Then another camp is just wishing for smooth mechanics. @HeWhoGivesNoFux really said: “I just hope they make smoother responding mechanics honestly.” And that is the dream, honestly.

All in all, this is just the next pass in the GTA 6 leak downpour. We’ve seen cars, we’ve seen characters, weird glitches, and now a scrapped prone animation. Does it really matter in the big picture? Probably not. But until Rockstar says something, oh boy, the speculation train is not slowing down.

So, uh, I guess keep your expectations grounded? And if you want to get your hopes up crawling on Leonidas streets like a cheap version of Solid Snake, I’d say hold off, at least for now.
