Just a short while ago, Blizzard released a Day One patch for Stadium mode. Changes that have thus far gotten quite a few players tying themselves into knots. The changelog was downright wild. Ana receives 200% more overhealth from Home Remedy, while Zarya got a 12.5% cash-noise reduction. And then there was the sad Reaper: Revolution Ruin attack speed per stack was brought down to 4%, from whatever it was before.
Then the cap for bounty was raised to 3,000. More garbage from chaos, more cash, and a lot more “cursed” in voice. What else could one ask for in Overwatch?
And certainly, the community did have something to say. Some people are cheering the nerf to Zarya—bye-bye!—while others are side-eye flinging at the Ana buff, like, “She needed more healing power?” Meanwhile, Reaper mains are mourning somewhere.
Now, while Blizzard is fixing numbers for Stadium, the fans keep pleading for attention to bigger problems. How come the game crashes randomly with a “Rendering device lost”-error? Or seriously, when is 6v6 role queue making its comeback? (Roland on Twitter is asking for answers.) Oh God, please don’t get people started about the Hanzo ult glitch when the dragons just… don’t show up.
And then there is the news of Juno. Ohhhhh boy, Juno. The players are infuriated over her torpedo ability, calling it “no skill” and begging for a nerf. Some say in less than a minute she becomes sort of a money-printing machine in Stadium mode. Next, Soldier 76 must be having a rough time too as most replies asked wham for Blizzard to just remove him in this very mode.
The random bugs, remember those, such as banners showing the wrong rewards or having Moira’s fade cooldown feel shorter than it should be? Then the complaints about matchmaking? They never stop.
So, yes, this hotfix is stirring the pot. Some embrace the changes, some loathe them, and some are just counting days until Blizzard fixes the damn game. Could these changes potentially balance Stadium a little bit? Possibly so. Are there still going to be reasons for players to rage about? No doubt.
By now, if anything concrete came out from these developments, it would be that the chaotic moment train of Overwatch is running nonstop without any sign of stopping. Choo choo, motherf—wait, that was supposed to be funny… I’m supposed to say… oh right—patch notes. Go read ’em. Or don’t. Either way, I’ll see you on the grind.
