Bethesda ran a cryptic tweet featuring Armand Christophe, the Redguard NPC of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and fans just had TOO MANY WORDS. The infamous line quoted from Christophe goes, “A little tip. People who ask a lot of questions around here tend to be not very popular.” The line was meant to be a cute reference to the games remastered edition, but in the place of sentiments expressed with nostalgia, players took over the tweet with demands, complaints, and newer-and-unresolved grievances about the state of the game at the moment.
But wait, that crash. Oh, that crash! Some more players went on to say Oblivion Remastered is a technical disaster, especially on consoles. One user, @cedrik010882, even went on to warn people with the hashtags #DoNotBuy and #Crashtesda. Another user, @DokaRyan, sarcastically inquired if Armand had any “tips” to stop late-game crashes when entering cities. Spoiler alert—He doesn’t.”
Then comes the difficulty curve. @valilalure grilled the dice for wacky balancing, saying Adept is too easy, whilst Expert is “unreasonably hard.” And let’s not forget about glitches that affect followers, right? @psychoboiXP ranted about Avita Vesnia being permanently glitched into their game, wreaking havoc on stealth missions! Classic Bethesda glitches, right?
Greatest demand, I’m pretty sure? A PHYSICAL RELEASE. Multiple replies, including ones from @Rory_g19 and @WolfKnightGuts, pleaded for Bethesda to drop a boxed copy of Oblivion Remastered. Because, let’s be real; some of us still like to keep their games physically instead of praying that the digital license won’t get sucked into oblivion.
But guess what? Not all of them were angry. @wadannatt gave kudos to the PC release, even though the performance was “meh.” On the other hand, there were people like @RobinDroxx who went full fanboy for Armand’s upscale looks while roasting the Thieves Guild for having armor less worthy than the Dark Brotherhood. Priorities, I say!
And then went the Agents of Chaos…@BaylanSkolll said that they wanted to “kîll every version of [Armand] in the game,” while @FuckGizzles threatened to track him down in the Arena. Meanwhile, @soychotic wondered if there were any mods with NPCs responding to passive-aggressive texts like “ok . are you mad at mee :(“. We stand for our relatable king.
What does that all mean? That, in simpler words, Oblivion Remastered is still a fiasco loved; the fans are loud and passionate and are now seriously, seriously ready for Bethesda to sort out that damned Game. Patches or physical editions, even letting us torment Armand Christophe in peace; the community isn’t going to shut up-anyway, no matter how “unpopular” that would render them.
Well, now if I may be excused, I am off to replay the Thieves Guild questline for the 50th time. Pray for my framerate.
