With glitches and texture bugs, the release of Oblivion Remastered goes on to forge very big waves. Entering Cyrodiil at last, and now with enhanced graphics and modern performance, the players can revisit what many have called the best RPG ever created. But… about that “performance,” huh?

Glitches there occur, crashes occur, horrible optimizing occurs on Better performance are forcibly required to be kept within the four walls under lock by the famous statements of many PS5 users: “Performance is quite the mess on PS5. Patiently waiting for a patch so I can play it..” and “Unplayable on PS5.” Ouch.

Computers are also not doing well. One @azsynn from an utter ridicule: “Game is a masterpiece and I’ve spent over 75 hrs since day one. However, there are several instances where the game crashes between loading screens or sometimes out of the blue.” Classic Bethesda scenario, right? However, the opposing viewpoint from @PlowmanEric was “It was like that when it originally released way back. This has always been a game where multiple saves are needed.” Some things never change.

Then there are complaints about the game itself. The players cite missing features and bad choices. The absence of a physical edition does get some disappointed who’ve asked, “Physical Edition when?” and “Where’s the physical release?” Meanwhile, another crosshair bug refuses to disappear on the Xbox, with @ValiantLife being eager for a patch: “When is a patch to remove the crosshairs coming? It’s bugged on Xbox.”

Not to mention the whole South Korea drama. Suddenly, the Oblivion Remastered has been region-locked in South Korea, thus logically mocking Korean fans along the way. @crictorz demanded, “Explain why Oblivion Remastered is region-locked only in South Korea.” Till now, Bethesda refuses to reply.

No matter, all these troubles did not stop the belated affection for the game. The remastering visuals got ample praise, and many are glad to revisit Cyrodiil now with modern touches. On looking forward, some fans jokingly chimed in, with @Hellgate79 saying, “Fallout 3 Remaster next? can’t wait to blow up Megaton in 4k lol.” Meanwhile, @alice_zube47052 said boldly, “Remake Skyrim on Unreal Engine 5 one more time and I’ll pay.”

Though they’ve remained mute about the patches, Bethesda will certainly have to look into all these problems sooner rather than later. Until then, it will be: save often, crash often, and maybe wait a little while for the PS5-troubles to clear. Some things never change,” punctuated wittily by @NEknucklehead.

The real question is: will Bethesda take care of this vaccination shortly or leave it to be tackled by the modders as was done previously? Now, if there is an answer to that, it may be time to start jogging. Until then, keep those multiple-save files close, and try not to give up when the game crashes on your fiftieth attempt at stealing the Elder Scroll—wait, isn’t that what true Oblivion experience is all about?
