The Bethesda latest update on social media has given a much-deserved shout-out to that chilly northern city of Cyrodiil, full of the nostalgia of half of the community being frustrated about Oblivion Remastered. Adding their voices to demand fixes, ports, and some meme-worthy comments about the city itself, players were quick to grab hold of the tweet featuring the signature Chapel of Talos of Bruma against frosty backdrops.

What’s the deal with Bruma? For those who never got to live the days of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it is almost like Skyrim for Cyrodiil—with snowy weather, Nords, a city full of lore, drama, and a huge number of bugs waiting for them to be fixed by the remaster. In the tweet, Bethesda kind of highlighted that in Bruma many Nords reside; however, the fans were quick in pointing out that real infuriating issue is not scenic beauty but performance.

Michael Elston was blunt about this: “Love the remaster, but all you game studios are good at selling /social media campaigns but not optimizing. Game stutters and FPS drops in Bruma and many others.” Ouch! And many have been joining the chorus; some are demanding refunds over a lack of PS5 optimization.

The comment section brought out some of the more grandiose memories. “I’ve had MANY battles here with hundreds of other players in ESO,” commented PvBrent on the rampant PvP in Elder Scrolls Online. Then the pleas continued for more Oblivion love, either in the form of some physical edition (“Release a physical edition of Oblivion Remastered, please,” WolfKnightGuts implored) or a Switch 2 port (“Switch 2 version pretty please 🥺🥺,” begged Maartje).

Next were the memes. Bruma’s famous line from the OG game, “where men are women,” surfaced in many responses as if the infamous line could never be deleted no matter how many remasterings came along. “Bruma is where men are women 😂,” quipped Gary Rollinson, while one user shared a clip of them doing some Skooma trickshots with their character. Classic.

If there was one thing to nail by a mile, it is that players want fixes now. From FPS drops to missing patches, Oblivion Remastered hype is clashing with the real technical state of the game. Bethesda hasn’t spoken out yet, but then again, with all this racket, they might have no other choice.

Meanwhile, should you be venturing back into Bruma, just remember to watch for the stutters, relish the nostalgia, and put that Skooma away. Then again, maybe don’t. It’s your call.
