Marvel Rivals is very much the hot topic at the moment, and Namor’s new costume may be the deserving vessel of this accolade. An infinite number of bulge and glory-of-society views on Namor have now been thrown out the window by the God King of the Atlantis himself who went ahead and put on a full Retro X-Uniform, sending the general fandom into fits of frenzy.
The official announcement dropped almost early this morning, offering a delectable taste of Namor, as though a Kadooment Days draft had just walked into an X-Men team-up comic. The caption read: “I am not used to having so much of my body covered. Is this the cost of camaraderie?” Just classic Namor, always with a flair of drama, for once actually wearing something!
It’ll hit the game on the 15th of May 7 PM PDT. If you’re into mutant-style dress statements, best to mark that date down.
But, of course, the great spectacle is just the reactions themselves. Some are pleased to see the costume (“Finally… a decent Namor skin!!! 💪🏻😎🫡”), while others are not really vibing. One person outright inquired, “Why is he black?” Buddy, that’s an entire can of worms. DiamondBat Toons had a “Yeahhhhhh—no. Y’all STILL fucked it up.” and attached a meme probably harsher than anything Namor would say about himself.
Now, the buzz-cut debate: the buzz cut lovers say, “The buzz cut is the best part fuck you mean?😭” while the classic-hair crowd goes, “Default hair is the best.” The obligatory “bro looks Dominican 😭” just hits at this point.
Then again, there are the dudes who don’t want anything to do with the fashion parade. A lot of answers are the players complaining about the game. One exasperated fan went on a rant about teammates leaving the matches, “I’m fucking tired of my teammates leave and I’m losing even more elo then I normally would bc of them leaving.” Another one went, “FIX LAGS AND OPTIMIZE THE GAME!”—rightly so, and all.
Jdude889, meanwhile, keeps spewing wild energy everywhere while his rapid-fire ALL CAPS rage includes: “NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS SO YA PUT BOTS LMFAOOOOO” and a repeated stomping of, “Everything about your game is dog shit.” Somebody ought to hand this man a stress ball.
In all the chaos, there are some hopeful already calling for more X-Men rep (“Cable and Cyclops when?”) as others just want Blade (“MF’s releasing everything but Blade. Release the damn character man. Shit.”).
Yeah, so Marvel Rivals continues to stay messy; at least Namor is now newly dressed. That’s an understatement for anyone who doesn’t love it: the Sub-Mariner’s mutant makeover will stir more drama than a Krakoa council-meeting. The game drops on the 15th of May. See for yourself. Maybe mute those replies first.
