Capcom threw a new kind of weirdness-at-the-aesthetic at the dear Monster Hunter players. A painful pun aside, the Trot-along Crake is a paid cosmetic that permits a person to carry this tiny, hyperactive avian companion wherever they walk or fly. And by “there,” it really means “everywhere,” as the creature will not stop moving even if its keeper decides to stop.
The official Monster Hunter Twitter account went on and tweeted, “Behold, the Trot-along Crake pendant in all its majesty!” and also linked to the purchase page for the cosmetic for the first time, though the real fun began in the replies. Some of the players adored it and called it the “best pendant ever made,” while others… well, let’s just say they have thoughts.
One more player, Teo Chanez, pointed out the integrity flaw of the pendant; that it just kept running all the time. They stated, “I would like it to sit down when I stand still,” and surely many others in the community have voiced that same idea in some capacity or another. Just imagine the view at Wilds being utterly sabotaged as this pesky little bird runs clockwise or counterclockwise circles around you. Totally chaotic energy.
Then there are those who are just done with everything. DPShiro went on the rant expressing, “Things like THIS should have been in the deluxe version/cosmetic pass and not the ugly crap you put out lately.” That just may sting to read. Meanwhile, people such as OmegaZero OZ took the opportunity to call out the performance issues instead, demanding fixes to optimization before more paid content.
On the other hand: “Bring on the chaos,” some said. SilverNyx_ called it “best $2 I ever spent,” while JackXrost stated it was the “best pendant right now.” In the meantime, SOLjack dumped a very straightforward request: “Make it a baby seikret, and I’ll buy 100.” Capcom, take note.
Of course: An abundance of crossover asks can never go unmentioned with any Monster Hunter update. David Humphrey still keeps it alive for an Onimusha collab, with sokyu_5 keeping the Devil May Cry wait going. Then there’s the player whose goal is just to have a legit space to show off their endemic life because, let’s face it, if you’re collecting tiny critters, you’re going to need a flex space.
Well, for the Trot-along Crake pendant, it is what the label says: weird and fun-an extra. Basically, it is something conversed about a lot, and that’s kinda the point since the game is all about fashion hunting.
If Capcom would just fix the performance issues and give us that baby seikret pendant, they’d be doing real good. Just saying.
