That cryptic tweet from Capcom is basically driving hidden hype inside the Monster Hunter community. The official Monster Hunter account posted the loaded statement “HERE COMES A NEW….CHALLENGER? 🤔” and hashtagged #MHWilds. There was nothing said further. However, an image accompanies the tweet, and it seems that it may very well be the silhouette of a new monster. Classic Capcom, keep us all guessing.

The replies? Pure mayhem. Some say it’s a collaboration; some swear it is a reveal for a new monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. The ambiguity of that tweet is perfectly fuel for the theories; the answers? Oh man, that’s a goldmine of hype, confusion, shipping wars, and everything in between.

TLS_Franziska soon became poetic; the tweet was now a love letter for Gif-The-Rondine x Minoto shipping of Monster Hunter Rise. They’ve honestly dissected every single word of that tweet and applied it to those two characters: “Here? Like how Rondine called for Minoto to ‘Come Here?'” Bruh, dedication levels: off the charts. MoofahMelody stated that they initially thought the posting was a joke silhouette that looked like something from a meme account. Same mood.

Then the collab beggars arrive. NieRAutoFana and Wojto24_ are out here begging for a Dragon’s Dogma crossover, kneeling emojis and all. Would be a nice touch, really-close-to-Insanity idea: Fighting Grigori in Wilds sounds awesome! However, not everyone here wants more crossovers, as Calm Rajang pretty much called out yet another Street Fighter collab: “Another SF collab so cool, what’s the next one gonna be Mega man? Wow never happened before.” Oof. They are seriously tired of the same-old collabs.

And then arose issues concerning speculating in performance, with SnowwZ8 joking (or maybe not?) if Wilds wil run decently on PC. Considering Capcom’s recent track record on PC ports, that might be a fair concern. Then, TheRealAnvilMAn just went ahead and said, “When is Denuvo getting removed?” Very brave of him.

But that was the drama; whether Monster Hunter Wilds is “dying.” KelbiBaltoro calls it a “dying franchise,” which, uh… have they checked out the sales numbers? Shmooglydoop shot back: “The tourists are gone now and its just the real hunters left as it should be.” Spicy. Renegated Evrae then tossed more gasoline on the fire by comparing Wilds content with World’s and accusing Wilds of much fewer quests and post-launch monsters. Valid criticism or just nostalgia crying? You be the judge.

Now, what were the things we really learnt? Capcom really know how to stir the pot. One cryptic tweet, and the whole fandom is split between hype, skepticism, and meme-worthy chaos. Whether this “new challenger” is a monster, a collab, or just Capcom laughing at our expense, Wilds is sure keeping everyone on their toes. That’s the real spirit of Monster Hunter, after all. Now time for the next clue.
