A bombshell has been dropped from the sky for Metal Gear fans: Photo Mode will be present in METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER! This looks very promising in terms of graphics. The official tweet showed a bit of the Photo Mode, with a golden hour jungle shot, filters, and frames to immortalize a moment. Gamers are already buzzing about what might be possible with this—from photographing animals in the jungle to, well, let’s say *unorthodox* applications involving some characters.

What does the Photo Mode imply, then? It is not simply zoom in and capture; rather, it teased some filters and frames, so one could really style their shots: They could whip up a dramatic capture of Snake mid-crouch or a serene screenshot of an empty jungle glowing at dawn. And the players themselves have begunations. One joked about turning into a wildlife photographer snapping pics of snakes and birds (quite fitting, given the game’s name).

But we must indeed talk about the great hype put forth nostalgically-fuelled. Another response reminisced about the old-school MGS4 days when you literally needed a second controller to get into Photo Mode. Times have changed for better, and now it is right there, within the game itself. On a side note, with all this nostalgia, people are already tossing around ideas about how it will tie into the hunt for The End, the legendary sniper boss. One user jokes, “Tio, así será fácil encontrar a The End.” Yeah, good luck with that.

But above just gameplay discussions, there are other topics. The simple fact that Photo Mode exists started off some funny discussions—such as, which button will actually open the menu, considering the codec and survival viewer have already taken select and start buttons. Classic Metal Gear: needlessly overcomplicating the whole thing, right? Following that will be the flood of Raikov and EVA…*ahem*…artistic photos. Let’s just say that the replies are already hilarious.

Speaking seriously, this is an incredible addition to the remake. Photo Mode has become near staple in modern games that allow players to capture cherished moments to share later. The jungle setting featured in Snake Eater is simply ripe for it. With all the hype building for MGS Delta, this alone could be the tipping point.

And when will one be able to actually get it into the hands? No definite window as of right now. But given how Konami has teased these things, they must have something big in store. Whether your World Ranked thing is stealth style or story or goofy aesthetic pictures of Snake slowly raising one leg in tall grass, Metal Gear Solid Delta looks like a title you want to have on your shelf. If MGO4 were even rumored… Well, another story for another time.

Start looking out for updates now while brainstorming those killer jungle shots. Once it drops, every camera roll will be filled with Snake photos. And maybe some close-ups of Raikov that probably shouldn’t be in your camera roll, to say the least.
