On June 26 at 9 AM UTC, a highly anticipated update is set to be unleashed onto Marvel Rivals. Statements began pouring in about the patch, with heres and theres of promises ranging from fixes to heroes, new bundles inside the game, smooth gameplay, and—to very sweetly say—the update comes with zero server downtime! So dust off your client, grab anything new, and jump right back in.
A hint from Marvel Rivals‘ official twitter goes to “new looks, sharper moves, smoother plays,” arguably pointing at some of the cosmetic updates as well as gameplay ones. The patch notes are fully available from the link, but in the comments section, the responses from the fans oscillate from hype to rants to downright madness.
Let’s focus on the lamentations on matchmaking first. Probably everybody would agree with this player @deeznutz_45 roaming the Twitter landscape, “Pls fix matchmaking.” Whereas @RaulSTco went out and asked, “When is Ben getting a buff?” Because apparently, mollycoddling Ben is somebody’s greatest concern.
The Black Panther discussion ensued. “@MarcusTricarico: Another patch without Black Panther fixes,” to which @reedlovesjeff replied: “Bro, BP is already fixed you just suck.” Classic. The conversation continued with @mikasaswift69 defending Black Panther’s viability and @daboss208 daring him to “play BP for 10 games” if he’s really so good.
Bug reports started coming in. @TSquatch830 claims that on PS5 Hulk’s exile bugs, rendering enemies invincible. @LetsGoLeo_ is mentioning Wolverine’s busted ult which 40% fails. And @MotherSett? Well, they want bot matches to be removed REALLY badly. They spammed “DELETE BOT GAMES” like it was their job.
On the plus side, @TheJackieB was stoked about the “vote size change,” calling it “MUCH needed.” And @DonnaFerna91480 said, “No downtime is a W,” because downtime is pain, and nobody is happy about it.
But the real drama? Matchmaking conspiracy theories. @TTVEarl and @Nesqira seemingly went back and forth about being “hard stuck” in ranked, while @SpiderOfWar jumped in to state that killing the challenge is the A.I. matchmaking stitching. @CManicYT then requested a surrender option in quick matches, with harsher penalties for rage quitters.
So what’s the verdict: fixes, new content, and player opinion come with this patch. Whether or not it is going to actually address the bulk of complaints remains to be seen—but hey! No downtime at least so might as well get stuck the test.
Well, if you are still salty about Black Panther or Wolverine‘s bugs… just play someone else, by the next update. Or, you know, keep yelling into the void. In one way or another, the battleground is about to get much louder.
