This one is literally history, being the delayed arrival in the item shop of two of the rarest emotes in Fortnite after literally YEARS of absence. The Time Out emote (absent for 863 days) and Spidey Landing (absent for 664 days) are now back, and maybe you want to join in all the hype from half the community that then turned into complete chaos in the replies.
We must then address this from the very beginning and see why this really matters. The way it works in Fortnite is that, over-time, cosmetics attain ultra-rarity levels when they stop coming up in rotations for an extended period of time. These two emotes became something akin to mythical legends during their rarities; just about all the players were always crying for Epic to bring them back. Well, the reaction to them being here really varies.
Some players are okay with some people finally being able to get Time Out:@DarknightJello:”I had it when it first released, nice to see other people can now get it.” While @JJoseRiveraa representing: “I had them OG!!!!!!!! Brooooo”- Fortnite at its classic best. And then you’ve got @Orton4kt94 coming out of nowhere to rage quit over summer event rewards, caps lock and all: “I’m forever DONE with this game FOR GOOD.” Dramatic? Probably. Absolutely on-brand for Fortnite Twitter? Most definitely.
And so the drama continues. More players discover further oddities with the shop- most of these are calling out the Pathfinder skin for not matching its promo image: bug or scam? Stirring enough drama. Then @DilSnaps is insistent on Laugh It Up emote’s return with the crying-laugh emojis because toxic fave needs to come back too.
The complaints on the collaboration are endless. @JTDean98 summed it up nice and clear: “Yeah fuck all this street fighter & MHA bullshit”- insult towards Epic’s latest anime crossovers allegedly stealing the spotlight from original content. Not to forget that @theclownaround is already in “Day 2 of asking for Hawkgirl in Fortnite” with a desperate meme. The requests for these never end.
Insane times: this return of emotes sparked a couple of completely random and irrelevant conversations. One such question from @JTDean98 was, “Any Palworld players?” right in the middle of a Fortnite discussion! This is followed by the whole Travis Scott Skin debate, with @FanOfSonic4Life rambling about why those cosmetics haven’t made a comeback after the Astroworld tragedy. Truly, Fortnite Twitter can’t have a conversation with itself for more than two tweets.
Please note: in reply to @kin2099 asking, “How much is the spidey landing emote?” It goes for 500 V-Bucks. On the other hand, @TheMitch_TMZ boasted, “Mine is only 300 V-bucks because of my bestie gifting it.” Shine on, everyone.
What really comes out of this update though is that: firstly, Fortnite players definitely have elephant memories for rare cosmetics; secondly, no matter what Epic does, half of the population will celebrate, while the other half will burn it all down. So, do these go back into retirement for another 800+ days after this? If not, why were they back in the item shop for so long? And if so, get yourself some rare flexes now if you cherish them. But don’t expect everyone to be smiling about it-I mean, it’s Fortnite Twitter here, where the drama dies hard and complaints keep loading.
