Kratos return subtleties for Fortnite‘s next Norse season have set gamers off into a frenzy. The excitement began and grew ever since a tweet from HYPEX emerged suggesting that maybe God of War could return in Chapter 7, perhaps with Atreus. What always being a catch, think about it: Disney’s name has not really been good for exclusivity in Fortnite. So, the players are now starting to brace for disappointment.

The origin tweet was a huge fire-starter; the replies ranged from desperate for any news to outright skeptical. Fortnite Exploits would have put it perfectly saying; “If only they didn’t hate money so much 😔.” And honestly? That is it. We are talking about Sony, which has grown to be so reluctant in the past when it came to Fortnite crossovers, especially when re-releasing skins that fans really wanted, like Kratos.

But what makes this such a big deal? It is because Kratos was brought to Fortnite back in 2020, as a part of the PlayStation Plus pack. In retrospect, he is one of the rarest skins in the game. The players have been begging for a re-release. The Norse season looks like one of the best opportunities yet, especially considering that God of War Ragnarök is still fresh on everyone’s tongue. The silence from Sony is, however, causing anxiety amongst the players.

Some replies were downright negative. To cite Xerapher, “Just watch, Sony is going to fumble this like the Greek season.” That’s harsh. Another, lightShadow116, sarcastically reminded everyone that Kratos didn’t even show up during the Greek season, so why is anyone expecting him to show up now? Fair point, but…let’s dream a little.

What about Atreus, though? If Kratos does come back, does that mean his son is coming back too? Players have already been dreaming of a double bundle complete with matching pickaxes and emotes. Again, running counter to Sony’s record. Sounds like something we heard last year…” came the observations.

From there, the replies tunneled off in all sorts of directions. Let’s just say it got messy with wild arguments and questionable humor. But hey, that’s Twitter for you.

But will Sony listen, is the real question. One can only hope since Street Fighter skins returned. Until an official announcement, however, players remain stuck in limbo-having half-hype, half-disappointed out of corporate decisions.

One thing is for sure: if Kratos doesn’t get his reappearance for the Norse season, Sony is going to suffer from a full-scale revolt. And I tell you, they will deserve it!
